WORKSHOPS

Adam takes writing and drawing workshops.  Both are interactive and full of fun, and have the children working as well as listening to a story from one of Adam's books.  The workshops generally go for around 45-50 minutes, but this can be extended to an hour to fit in with the school's timetable.  Question time is also included as part of the session.

In the drawing workshops Adam discusses drawing with the children, and then the students draw two pictures from Adam's How to Draw series.  The books are step by step, and children from Prep to Grade 6 love them.    With the older children Adam also discusses some simple drawing techniques.

The writing workshops, which are for Grade 3 to 6, have the students organising ideas which they can then turn into a story.  They will create a storyboard, which gives ideas for over 600 stories, and they also carry out a What If ... or character development exercise.  Both of these exercises have proven very successful with all children, even reluctant readers and writers.  Adam can also carry out rhyming workshops and more.

It is also possible with the older children to mix and match and have a half writing, half drawing workshop.  That way the students come out with a picture and some story ideas.

The emphasis in all Adam's workshops is having fun and appreciating that everyone's work will be different.  It is really exciting to see that every student has their own special take on what they are writing or drawing, and how their personalities come out in their pictures and stories.
