SPARK is a CBCA Notable Book!

I am very excited!!! Spark, which is a book I wrote about a bushfire from the fire’s point of view, has been listed as a Notable Book in the Children’s Book Council of Australia Book of the Year Awards! This is so cool, which is weird for a book about a fire, but anyway …

This book is really important to me, as my Grandmother and I ran away from the Ash Wednesday fires. I was wearing ugg boots and shorts. Yeah. I was a fashionista.

My Grandmother wrote children’s books too, and played piano, and was all-round kinda awesome. She looked after me heaps when I was a little tacker too, so we were pretty close.

So Oma, this one’s for you!
